Christopher “Chris” Wert, age 49, Stone Mountain, GA, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 7, 2020. He was born in Dayton, OH on Tuesday, November 24, 1970. He was a 1989 graduate of Stone Mountain High School. He was a loyal and loving member of Mountain West Church, Tucker, GA. He was also an avid golfer and took great pride in being the caretaker for his dad.
Chris dedicated the last 15 years of his life in the service of others and making the world a little better. Chris helped develop nationally recognized groups and programs that helped him and many others here in Georgia and over the internet across several countries live a sober life of faith. Chris was a organ donor as well. With the help and support of Life Link of Georgia his end created countless beginnings for others.
Surviving are his parents, Tom Wert, Stone Mountain, GA; Nancy Litle, Lilburn, GA formally of Chillicothe, OH; sister, Lori Wert, Snellville, GA; step brothers, Tevis Stein, Berkley Lake, GA and Jae Lumley, Mountain City, GA; nieces, Samantha and Maggie and nephew Garrett, Aunt “TeenTeen”, Lilburn, GA and Uncle Larry Cloud, Dayton, OH along with numerous cousins.
Private services will be held Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Wages & Sons Stone Mountain at 2:00 pm, with a public visitation to follow from 2:30 to 4:00 pm at the funeral home.

What an amazing man you grew into. What a pleasure . . . looking forward to seeing at church every Sunday morning. Your smiles, hugs and warm greetings were infectious and lifted many hearts and blessed the lives of many people. Thank you for touching my life, being a wonderful, passionate witness of our Savior’s compassion, forgiveness & complete restoration of our lives through His grace, love and sacrifice. I met Chris 14 years ago during days of which are hard to imagine since he had changed so much since then. He became an example of literally being “reborn.” Since then, he became more than a friend, he practically functioned as a promoter for me to share some of the history that I love. He became a magnet to attract others that today feel like he used to feel before he found the light. He asked me to talk briefly on the inaugural nights of both the Monday and Tuesday meetings that he founded, for which I am honored to have been invited. A very special man who the recovery community of Atlanta will miss.

Chris’s energy, devotion and passion for helping other people begin their hopeful journeys on the road of happy destiny was remarkable. It became a true avocation for him. Many people can claim he was “the hand.” He leaves a wonderful legacy of love. Wishing Chris’s family and friends peace and love in this difficult time.
Chris, I am so sorry the world loses your great energy and talents. You gave a lot to the recovery community that you served so passionately, and I am honored to have known you and your story, to have and spent some time with you. You will be missed, but our loss is your gain, as I know you now reside with the great God of our recovery, in the Promised Land where there is no pain, no addiction, no struggle. You are a great example of the power of the AA program and of the rewards of a life of service. Until we meet again on the other side, I will remember you always with a warm smile.
It’s December 11, 2021 and I just found out about Chris passing. I love what u said about him, so spot on! I asked him to speak at my one yr sober anniversary and he didn’t hesitate for a second. I was so thrilled & proud to have him speak his story for me. He is the person that encouraged me to fight for my sobriety when I almost gave up. So sad to hear he’s left us. I hope it’s not inappropriate to ask what happened? If anyone could tell me, I’ve left my email. I looked at his FB and saw he had posted positive posts just days before his death. I hope he didn’t suffer any pain and I didn’t know if he’d been ill. Most of all, I hope he is a good place with his HP! .. I hope he is looking over those of us that love him.
