Leslie Sperr Hamilton of Stone Mountain passed on June 9, 2021.
Leslie was born on January 15, 1957 in Arlington Heights, IL to Edward and Sylvia Sperr.
Leslie graduated from Lakeview High School in Battle Creek, MI in 1975 and she attended Ferris State University and Clemson University where she studied commercial art and marketing. Leslie excelled while employed at The Sport Shoe, Atlanta Community Food Bank, Nieman Marcus and finally at The Home Depot.
Always a “people person” dating back to her days as a camp counselor at Camp Merrie Woode she never met a stranger and was congenial to everyone.
Her hobbies and interests (and she had many) included tennis, half marathons and 5k’s, cross stitch and needlework, gardening, boating, having a beer with friends and family and her many garage/estate sale excursions with her best friend Courtney!
A big sports fan, Leslie enjoyed NASCAR and Indy car racing attending races at Darlington, Daytona, Bristol, Indianapolis, Atlanta and Talladega. She also loved her Atlanta Falcons and Clemson Tigers and her beloved Atlanta Braves and looked forward to the company of her tailgating friends and family.
Leslie lived her life to the fullest, never a dull moment while going to Jimmy Buffet concerts and annual family trips to the beach. Nothing was more relaxing to Leslie than sitting in her beach chair, umbrella up, bubble machine churning out bubbles, kite flying overhead, surf reaching her toes in the sand and having a cold one with family all around.
Leslie was a 20+ year volunteer for the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl. She also gave her time and resources to Dekalb Animal Shelter and Atlanta Botanical Gardens. She also donated to The island Pony Reserve at The Okracoke Island National Seashore.
Leslie is survived by siblings Pete Sperr, Chip (Amy) Sperr, and Alexis (Milton) Morris and former husband David Hamilton. She will be missed by nieces & nephews Louisa & Joe, John Elliott, Michael & Stephanie, Natalie & Sean, Dustin & Kari, Ivan, Zane, Geer, Leila, Hank, Liam, Hudson, Dylan and Daxton.
Visitation will be at Wages and Son Funeral Home in Stone Mountain on Saturday August 21 from 4-6 pm.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to The American Heart Association and Dekalb Animal Shelter.

Will miss our texts about sports! And all your help for head cashier morning openings. R.I.P.
Not hearing your voice. But you are in good place with God. Lv Hazel kip
Words cannot tell how much I will miss you, Leslie You introduced me to so many things, including your love of racing/NASCAR and all. You gave me so many beautiful orchids and plants, and the last thing was the squirrel proof bird feeder. When you came I loved it that we went to the Amish Store and the Farmer’s Market. I loved it when we went to Fort Wayne to research your parents and grandparents when they lived there. We even checked out James Dean’s final resting place.
There is a big, vacant space in our lives where you once were. May the Good Lord Bless and Keep you and be with your family at this sad time.
Leslie,
I will miss you but we will meet again in heaven! You were the first one I met everyday when I came to work at Home Depot. We always talked about them Braves! We will keep talking about them and cheer them on for you everyday!
My daughter Caroline is a huge fan of the Braves as well. We will keep them going strong until we see you again. See is getting married in two weeks and I was so hoping for you to meet her in this life but that will have to wait a little longer. Love you my friend!
Rog.
Leslie, all the great memories from our first working and married years. You were always one of the funniest and honest people I knew. Miss you friend Taylor
Leslie, I so enjoyed working with you when you were with The Sport Shoe and then with the Atlanta Food Bank. You introduced me to Dauphin Island, where I took my family for many years after. I always loved your sense of humor, positive attitude and ‘can do’ approach to everything. The world will not be the same without you. RIP my friend.
Leslie became a fast friend to me this past year in Stone Mountain Village, our neighborhood. We met at the new brewery that opened last summer. From the start, Leslie and I could talk about common interests and dealings with work and the pandemic. We saw each nearly every week there since. She’s one of the only local people who can talk baseball history and had a great passion for her Atlanta Braves. I was always happy to see her and talk about her travel and weekend activities. She came along to be in my life when I really needed a friend. I will truly miss having her as a neighbor, companion, and friend.
You will be missed. Your sense of humor and enjoyment of life was a bright light in this crazy world.
We worked together at the Bowl. Always ready to help. Always a smile and a “very” quick wit. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. Rest In Peace my friend.
