Cynthia DeBord Weigel was born Cynthia Lou DeBord in Marion, Virginia on August 4, 1952, the third and youngest daughter of the late Woodrow and Vera DeBord. She attended elementary and high school in Rich Valley, Virginia and graduated in 1970. Some of her favorite memories of RVHS were those of playing trombone and being a majorette in the Steer Band, and she often talked about doing a science project with her lifelong pal Junebug Carter about the science of shooting pool. Back in the days when she was playing a lot, she could clear a pool table before you got started. She attended the University of Tennessee, graduating with high honors in 1974 and establishing a lifelong love of Volunteer football. She was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority and Phi Beta Kappa academic honor society. After graduation from UT, she worked for Virginia Department of Social Services until her marriage to Roger Weigel in 1976 and beginning their life together in Atlanta. She began to work in advertising and marketing until her most important job and all-time favorite work began in December 1983 with the birth of her son, Ryan Blake Weigel. Daughter Emily Grace Weigel was born in September 1987, and being the mother of these two children was the most beloved part of her life. She strived to raise healthy, well educated, principled and caring children who could follow their own paths in life, and she was absolutely convinced that she had done so. Her enthusiasm for all their sports or music activities when they were younger is legendary. Never did youth baseball or soccer have a better advocate or bigger fan. There was never a complaint about trying to wrangle a cello in a case into the back seat of a two door car. Chirping crickets all over the house because a science project was in progress was music to her ears. Her family and their wellbeing were her mission in life. When they were grown with families of their own, she got to be Nana for a little while enjoying her four grandchildren.
Cindi is survived by her son Ryan and daughter-in-law Kelsey, daughter Emily and son-in-law Philip, best friend and former husband, Roger Weigel, sisters Carol and Carla, beloved grandchildren Charles, Patience, Charlotte and Christian, and many sorority sisters and lifelong friends.
Cindi was an ardent supporter of St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and often gave a memorial donation to honor a deceased friend or relative. Without a doubt, she would be pleased if you should be inclined to contribute to their mission in her memory.

I had the pleasure of meeting Cindi through my brother Gunnar during the late 1980s. She had such a quick sense of humor and I loved her laugh.
My prayers go out to Ryan Emily and her sister Carla Rest In Peace Cindi
Cindi was a little powerhouse of a person! We were sorority sisters and lived together at the Univ. of Tn., Knoxville in the early 70’s. Smart as a whip and full of life. I am so grateful our paths crossed.
I will hold your family close to my heart in the coming days.
Sending love –

We do not grieve
without first loving …
We do not love
without gaining more
than we could ever lose.
Prayers for family and friends
So very sorry to hear of Cindi’s passing. Praying for the whole family. May you find comfort in all the wonderful memories you hold dear in your hearts.
I knew Cindi (and Roger) from our days at the University of Tennessee. We had many fun filled days and great memories. Cindi was full of life, pulled no punches and laughed harder than anyone! I have no doubt that she has had a great reunion with her family/friends in Heaven unencumbered by the physical pains that we all have here on this earth. “Glory to God in the highest”.
We all met this beautiful, quick witted and vibrant Cindi in Atlanta when Roger was introducing her to the family She had a twinkle in her eye and a laugh that was contagious Her two children Emily and Ryan and their families were the apples of her eye The Tennessee clan surrounds all of you with love and prayers over the loss of you beloved matriarch We shall always cherish memories especially of the glorious wedding in Virginia and special family gatherings ????????????????
So many good times during our days at UT and when common sense was needed Cindi was the one person who kept the rest of us in line. She was like a big sister who gave much love to many. Love you and RIP.
God Bless, Anita Boone and family
To the mother of our beautiful children

Thanks for the memories.
