So sorry to hear of Chuck’s passing.
As a young man, Chuck loved the outdoors. He spent many days in one of his favorite places in the Sierras, Mineral King in Sequoia National Park. I was lucky to join him on one of his adventures there. I was young, maybe 14 or 15, he was 19 or 20 and still he let me tag along. The mountains seemed overwhelming to me but Chuck was patient and taught me a lot about backpacking. From that point on I developed a love for the mountains and have since spent many days and nights out in the woods. He was a good Brother.
We want to express our deepest sympathy to you all. We are keeping you and your entire family in our prayers. May God give you strength and peace.
With Our Love,
Denise & Milo
Eddie, Linda, Jimmy, Kerry
You can see the love Charles had for his family as well as the love they had for him. I didn’t know him like my mom, his cousin, Pat, but I do know he had strong passions for what he believed. My heart goes out to the family, praying for God to send his comfort to all of you, like only He can.
Always ready for adventure. Long ago when Chuck was in high school Chuck, Mark Moore and myself, Jimmy had plans to camp on a sail boat while berthed since no one knew how to sail. It did not take long for that to get a bit boring. Charles found a how to sail book. Soon he was standing on deck issuing instructions. The trio soon were off into the San Francisco Bay. After a few minutes of sailing, all believing they were now expert sailors, headed to the Golden Gate Bridge and the Pacific. Once we saw the size of the seas out there we thought better and headed for home. This was classic Charles. Always confident and ready to take on the next adventure. We will miss you.
When I turned 12, the entire family forgot my Birthday. Uncle Ken was getting married that day and everyone was busy with that. They all went to the church to decorate, leaving me at Grandma’s house. I was sitting in the kitchen crying and Chuck walked in and asked me what was wrong. I told him it was my birthday and everyone had forgotten. He just said “bummer man” and left. I was kinda shocked. 15 minutes late , I am still sitting there wallowing in My sadness and the door opens. It’s Chuck- he was back with a Cake , balloons, a card and this beautiful little figurine of a little girl with a sheep. I was overwhelmed and will never ever forget his kindness that day.
I pray you are comforted by the love that surrounds you at this difficult time, and in knowing that many people loved Chuck.
I remember when we first met him, with a big smile and friendly, welcoming attitude he introduced himself as “our neighbor Chuck” and pointed over to his home a few doors down. Soon after I met Pam and their children Ben and Kristin, both close in age to our two daughters. In short order we were friends, and often enjoying cook outs and sharing meals together or visiting the local Mexican restaurant together. It wasn’t long before these friends became so much more…they’re family. We’ve shared lots of celebrations & good times, some sad times and many, many a meal together. Chuck is the one that put us all together with that neighborly welcome. I’m so grateful he was placed in our life path and initiated the connection we have with this dear family.
Chuck, we will miss you as we hold you and your memory in our hearts forever.
With love,
~ Tammy
