Susan Stewart, born on December 15, 1950, in Sacramento, California, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025, as a resident of Lawrenceville, GA. She was 74 years old.
Susan was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. She was the proud owner of a successful pet grooming and boarding business, where her love for animals, particularly German Shepherds, shone brightly. Her passion for animals was matched only by her deep love for her family. Susan was a spirited, determined, and fearless woman who had a strong conviction in everything she did. She made her family feel loved, protected, and cared for, always being the reliable, dependable rock everyone could count on.
She is survived by her loving, loyal husband of 43 years, Rodney Stewart. Her children include Christopher Stewart, Kristin Stewart, Steven Stewart and his wife Gabrielle, Regan Stewart and her wife Dulce, and Kerri Miaso and her husband Vincent. Her grandchildren are Mason Stewart, Iyawa Stewart, Kyle Miaso and his wife Laura, and Curt Miaso and his wife Jessica.
Preceded in death by her father, Hershel Scarborough; her grandmother, Lillian “Mimi” Finley; and her sister, Cheryl Wright, Susan is also survived by her mother, Ruby Canole; her brother, Steven Highlander; and her five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Missouri German Shepherd Rescue, a cause that was near and dear to Susan’s heart.
Susan’s legacy of love, loyalty, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will forever be remembered for her courage, her conviction, and the unwavering love she gave to her family and the animals she so dearly cherished.

Goodbye old friend. We knew each other since we were 10 or 11. Pretty much our entire lives. I have a million or more memories of you. I’m so glad we shared this life. You were always there when I needed you. Thank you for making my life more interesting, more joyful and definitely more exciting. Thank you for the honor of being Kristin’s Godmother. I will continue to love and cherish her. Thank you Susan for being my friend. You will be in my heart forever.
