Lucretia “Cree” Peterson, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on June 14, 1949, in Jamestown, New York, Cree was a longtime resident of Lawrenceville, Georgia.
A graduate of Bradford High School and College of the Desert, Cree pursued a creative career as a graphic artist, specializing in online apartment listings. Her artistry and attention to detail were a reflection of her cleverness and thoughtful nature.
Cree was a proud Methodist and lived her life with compassion, independence, and a little sass. She had a warm heart and a sharp wit, and she made sure everyone in her life felt seen, loved, and appreciated. Whether she was solving word search puzzles, mastering Word Whomp on the computer, traveling to new places, or watching her favorite movies, she found joy in life’s simple pleasures.
She taught those around her the power of words and the unmatched value of spending quality time with loved ones. Her home was a haven of love, laughter, and warmth—a place where everyone felt welcome.
Cree was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Joan Passmore; her beautiful daughter Michelle “Shell” Peterson; her brothers Darrell and George Passmore; and her sister, Vicki Sekoll.
She is survived by her loving children: son Scott Peterson, and daughter and son-in-law Kristi and Richard Leasure. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Halley and Brandon Parrish, Brandon Peterson and Jenny Soto, and Andrew and Lauryn Peterson, Nicholas Anderson and Lauren Anderson; and her adored great-grandchildren: Luke Peterson, Maddie Peterson, Braiden Parrish, Makayla Parrish, Nova Peterson, and Michael Peterson. Cree is also survived by her brothers Jeff, Warren, and John Passmore; her nieces Amy Danielson and Sandy Colquitt; and many other nieces, nephews, and extended family who held a special place in her heart.
Cree’s legacy is one of love, generosity, and the deep connections she fostered with all who knew her. Her family takes comfort in knowing she lived a full, meaningful life—one marked by laughter, storytelling, and kindness.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the American Lung Association or the Giraffe Conservation Foundation—two causes close to the hearts of those she loved.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
She was like a second mother to me. She will be be truly missed.
