David Evor Kerr, 81, of Lawrenceville, GA passed away on Tuesday, March 11th at home surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 28th, 1943, and was proceeded in death by his mother Lucille and father Captain David Kerr.
David proudly served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1962 and was in Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He continued to serve as a member of The Reserves until 1970. He was the Administrator of the Health and Welfare Fund for Teamster Union 436 in Cleveland, Ohio during his work years.
He married Christine Mason on October 19, 1968, and they were married for 56 years. She was the love of his life. They resided in Vermilion, Ohio where they raised their daughter and son and lived next to extended family.
David loved nothing more than boating on Lake Erie. He also enjoyed reading, listening to music, and golfing. He liked to travel, take cruises, and visit his “happy place”, St Petersburg Beach, Florida. He was outgoing and always up for an adventure and fun. When David Kerr entered a room, you knew it. He was a consummate storyteller always adding laughter and joy.
He is survived by devoted wife Christine; daughter and son-in-law Kristen and Phil Stahl; son David Kerr; cherished granddaughter Kassidy Stahl; sister Karen Cornelius; niece Kara Shanks; niece Krista Cornelius; niece Kirsten Hutchins; and niece Kelly Marshall.
In lieu of flowers his family asks that all who knew and loved David take a moment to share a story and raise a glass in his memory- just as he would have wanted. The family plans a private service to celebrate David’s life.
