Eric Venegas

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eric Venegas, a cherished husband, brother, son, uncle, and friend. Eric was born on December 19, 1987, in Oak Park, IL, and passed away on October 28, 2024, in Lawrenceville, GA, leaving an unforgettable mark on all who knew him.

Eric grew up in Gwinnett County, where he attended Central Gwinnett High School. A man of many talents and passions, Eric was best known for his love of BBQ and the joy he found in cooking for his family and friends. He took immense pride in learning and perfecting new recipes and techniques. He planned meals that brought people together. His love of cooking ultimately inspired him to found Homeskillet Provisions in August 2022, a company dedicated to crafting small-batch seasonings from fresh, quality ingredients. Eric’s constant quest for improvement was evident in every creation; he carefully considered new ways to elevate everything he made, from new spice blends to home cooked meals.

Eric’s interests extended beyond cooking. He was a lifelong football fan, enjoyed comedy podcasts, and bartending. With a great sense of humor and a love for comedy and music, Eric brought laughter to any gathering and made others feel instantly welcome. His kindness, humor, and warmth made hard days easier and good days great. Eric had a natural ability to build a community wherever he went, making those around him feel valued and at home.

Eric believed he was too lucky too often for there not to be a God and found comfort in the victories of everyday life. To his family, he was a light – filled with love and laughter. He never missed a chance to share special moments with his beloved wife, Jennifer, who he always made feel capable of anything.

Eric is preceded in death by his grandparents, Guadalupe and Silvinia Rodriguez, and Joaquin and Balbina Galindo Villa. He is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Venegas; his parents Francisco and Juana Venegas; his brothers Ramon and Javier Venegas; his sister Veronica Venegas; six nieces, one nephew, and his cherished pets, Leia, Violet, and Empanada.

A visitation will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024, from 12-2 PM at Wages and Sons Gwinnett Chapel, with a funeral service following at 2 PM. Following the service, Eric will be laid to rest at Gwinnett Memorial Park, 925 Lawrenceville Hwy., Lawrenceville, GA 30046.

In honor of Eric’s life and legacy, let us remember the warmth he shared, the laughter he brought, and the kindness he showed to all. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
